Jerry enlisted in the USAF in 1966.  After completing basic training  in Lackland, Texas he went to Air Police Technical School at Shepard AFB, Texas.   Jerry was then assigned to Altus AFB, Oklahoma.  Jerry initially worked on the flight line guarding B52 Bombers. Because of his computer background he was assigned to the Pass & Identification unit of Air Police. He held this position until his orders for South Vietnam came at the end of 1968.  He was assigned to the Phan Rang AB, SVN from April 1969 to May 1970. He was then honorably discharged.  Jerry joined the VFW in 1970.  However,  Jerry was not an active member of the VFW until 2008. Jerry has held the Adjutant and Quartermaster positions at the Loveland Post 5749. He became Commander in May 2024.  Jerry is also a member of the Loveland  American Legion  Post 256 currently holding the Judge Advocate position.
